THE DEPARTMENTAL ASSEMBLY OF THE PEOPLES OF HUEHUETENANGO IN DEFENSE OF THE TERRITORY AND FOR THE AUTONOMY AND SELF-DETERMINATION OF THE PEOPLES – ADH – sends a fraternal and courageous greeting on the INTERNATIONAL DAY OF THE WORLD’S INDIGENOUS PEOPLES.

We, the Indigenous peoples of the world, have endured more than 500 years under capitalist neoliberal domination, facing racism, discrimination, and exclusion. This exterminating monster has, over the years, stolen from us, exploited our natural wealth, and sought to erase our culture, knowledge, and ancestral wisdom.

Sisters and brothers of Indigenous nations across the world, we have been demonstrating and building a true peoples’ resistance, defending what is ours no matter the cost we have borne. No one can stop or hold back the glorious resistance of our struggle. We continue walking forward, and we reaffirm once again: we will never, ever surrender.

Through many years of experience, we have developed our own tactics and strategies for defense, grounded in our customary law, inherited from our ancestors, which we reclaim with ever greater strength.

From the depths of our hearts, we remember you in this shared field of defense and struggle, and we send you our infinite greetings. Let us celebrate this anniversary with dignity and great joy, nurturing and strengthening our conviction to continue building the future of our Nations.

Until we meet again, sisters and brothers — the struggle of Indigenous peoples is a just case.

Respectfully, ADH – Huehuetenango, Guatemala
