November marks the close of the Maya Ixil genocide case against Manuel Benedicto Lucas García, Chief of the General Staff of the Guatemalan Army between 1978 and 1982. We invite you to show your solidarity with members of the Association for Justice and Reconciliation (AJR) who brought the case forward, the witnesses who bravely shared their stories in testimony, and all genocide survivors. Regardless of the outcome of the case, we continue to assert: Maya Ixil genocide survivors deserve justice, and the Guatemalan military, along with the United States and Israel who financed, armed, and encouraged it, will be held accountable.

From writing a note to hosting an event, there are many ways to join the struggle from the US and beyond. Choose from our toolkit of actions:

1. Send a message to AJR, witnesses, and genocide survivors.  You could write a note, create a drawing/piece of art, or take a video of yourself sharing support. We will compile them and bring them to the close of the case.
Send your creations to info@nisgua.org or share via our social media:

2. If you are a part of an organization, sign a letter to the US embassy urging them to attend the close of the case. As instigators and financiers of the genocide, they have a responsibility to be present. International attendance also shows the Guatemalan court that the world is watching their decision.

3. Circulate political art and education about genocide in Guatemala. Email or DM us at NISGUA (information above) and we will send you all the materials you need for a gathering in your community.
