TO THE NATIONAL AND INTERNATIONAL PUBLIC OPINION:

On this January 3, 2026, we strongly condemn and repudiate the actions and policies of U.S. President Donald Trump in launching missiles against the Venezuelan people. This fragrant and systematic violation is both severe and unacceptable. It seems that Mr. Trump lacks both compassion and reason as he continues to orchestrate coups in other countries. We, the indigenous peoples, believe that this destructive policy must be stopped. Decade after decade, the power structures of the United States of America have focused their efforts on coups and wars, perpetuating violence and destabilization around the world. These policies have caused immeasurable harm, and we, the indigenous peoples, are among those who bear the brunt of their devastating consequences. In addition to coups, the U.S. power structures have engaged in economic blockades and mass deportation policies that disproportionately impact vulnerable communities. These actions serve only to satisfy the fundamental objectives of neoliberal capitalism: to exploit and destroy natural resources for profit, regardless of the human or environmental cost. We, the indigenous peoples, call for an end to these harmful and oppressive policies. Decades of imperialist interventions have left countless communities in ruin, and it is time to demand accountability for these unjust actions.

For President Trump, the easiest course of action is to launch missile strikes on Venezuela and other countries, disregarding the devastating consequences for human lives, the environment, and the stability of Latin America and the world.

President Trump, your actions are dedicated to undermining and harming our peoples. You show no regard for international agreements, the positions and criticisms of the United Nations (UN), the Organization of American States (OAS), North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO), or the international community. You disregard the sovereignty of nations and the fundamental principles of global diplomacy. Your policies reflect a lack of conscience and awareness of the immense damage you are inflicting on people and the planet.

There is an urgent call to social organizations, ancestral authorities, churches, and other national entities to unite in solidarity with the Venezuelan people. What is happening to them today could affect us all tomorrow.

Finally, we issue an urgent and specific call to the international community to impose drastic measures to halt missile strikes against Venezuela and other countries around the world. Peaceful solutions and international dialogue must be prioritized as the only viable path forward.

We are all Venezuela.
Our unwavering solidarity stands with the Bolivarian people of Venezuela.
As indigenous peoples of the world, we yearn only for peace.

Respectfully,

THE DEPARTMENTAL ASSEMBLY OF THE PEOPLES OF HUEHUETENANGO
IN DEFENSE OF THE TERRITORY AND FOR THE AUTONOMY AND SELF-DETERMINATION OF THE PEOPLES (ADH)
AND THE MAYA MAM SAQTX’OTX’ COUNCIL

Issued in Huehuetenango, territory of K’aib’il B’alam, on January 3, 2026.
