OPERATIONS COORDINATOR ROLE

The Network in Solidarity with the People of Guatemala (NISGUA) seeks a committed and politically grounded individual to join our team. The Operations Coordinator is responsible for coordinating the financial and administrative tasks that keep our organization running. Among the Operations Coordinator’s responsibilities is: working with program coordinators and the Board Finance Committee to craft our annual budget, sharing leadership in NISGUA’s fundraising activities, managing relationships with vendors, and ensuring the timely payment of all expenses, including payroll and taxes.

Formed in 1981 at the height of Guatemala’s Internal Armed Conflict, NISGUA’s network today is composed of thousands of people across the U.S. who demand justice, challenge corporate-led development, and push to change current U.S. policies. Using strategies that include international human rights accompaniment, digital organizing and communications, horizontal exchange, rapid response activism, and campaigns, NISGUA builds mutually beneficial, transterritorial networks to support social and environmental activists in Guatemala. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Financial and Personnel Administration (45%): Budget creation and management, payroll, vendor relationships, payments, bookkeeping, and other related tasks
    • Fundraising Operations Administration (45%): Processing and tracking donations, sending donor acknowledgements, managing donor database, etc.
    • Coordination with full time staff and board (10%): Attending weekly staff meetings, quarterly board meetings, and participating in finance and fundraising committees

The ideal candidate will have the following qualifications:

    • Commitment to supporting a culture of feedback, accountability, wellness, and mutual support
    • Commitment to human rights and social, economic, ecological, racial, and disability justice
    • Ability to organize and prioritize tasks, working independently and within a team that operates using horizontal decision-making
    • Proficient in both English and Spanish
    • Experience in organizational administration including: budget drafting, fundraising administration, data entry, etc.  
    • Experience in accounting/ bookkeeping
    • Experience with a variety of digital platforms, for example: Google Docs, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, QuickBooks, and Network for Good
    • Located in the Bay Area, with ability do regular tasks in Oakland (weekly to bi-weekly) 

COMPENSATION

Part time staff are paid $31/hr and receive prorated paid vacation, along with a paid sick time package.
