Before national and international public opinion, we make it known that:

The ASSEMBLY OF THE PEOPLE OF HUEHUETENANGO IN DEFENSE OF TERRITORY AND FOR THE AUTONOMY AND FREE DETERMINATION OF THE PEOPLE (ADH) on this occasion categorically declare that we reject the actions of the Public Prosecutor’s Office, which has been trying to judicialize the free and democratic elections that were recently carried out.

For the above reasons, the ADH joins different organizations of university students and indigenous peoples in the struggle against corruption that has the country subjugated – a country in which a minority uses the economic and political power to promote the current system.

Once again, we are denouncing the actions of Attorney General Consuelo Porras, the head of the Spcial Prosecutor’s Office against Impunity (FECI) Rafael Curruchiche, Judge of the 7th Criminal Court Fredy Orellana, and prosecutor Cintia Monterroso, who are acting outside of the established electoral law of political parties. By breaching 160 boxes that were being safeguarded by the Supreme Electoral Tribunal, they contributed to the bankrupting of democracy, forgetting that power is rooted in the sovereignty of the people.

If that were not enough, two laws are currently being considered for approval in the Congress of the republic – the Monsanto Law and the Law of Fossil Fuels — both of which we categorically reject. We will not permit the corruption now active in the Congress of the republic to approve these destructive laws, and exterminate the native seeds of the original peoples, their knowledge and ancestral wisdom. We request and demand as a matter of national urgency that these proposed laws be eliminated. We demand that the Constitutional Court and the Supreme Court of Justice act in accordance with the established norms of the political Constitution of the Republic of Guatemala.

The organizations that form the Departmental Assembly (ADH) urge the resignation of those responsible for this social chaos, who are: Attorney General Consuelo Porras, head of the Special Prosecutor’s Office against Impunity (FECI) Rafael Curruchiche, Judge of the 7th Criminal Court Fredy Orellana, and prosecutor Cintia Monterroso.

The ADH fully recognizes the awakening of our people, who day by day are moving towards a solid democracy that will ensure that new generations will be free of the destruction caused by corruption. Our final determination is the Unity of the People.

We make a call to Guatemalan society, international bodies who work in favor of democracy and in accordance with the agreements and treaties to which they are committed -.

¡¡¡Long live the Indigenous People of Guatemala!!!

¡¡¡Long live democracy!!!

¡¡¡Long live the new democratic era of the People!!!
